Sri Sathya Sai Baba is recognized by more than 120 million people across the world as an avatar- a human incarnation of the divine with absolute knowledge. Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born and raised in a small village called Puttaparthi in India, which has become a world-famous place today. Innumerable devotees, from all over flock to this small town every year to have a glimpse of their seer and be touched by his divine grace. His devotees fondly address him as Swami. In His last incarnation as Shirdi Sai Baba He prophesied His birth in this life. Swami has predicted He will live till age 96 in this life and will then reincarnate as Prema Sai after 8 years.

Swami was born as Sathya Narayana Raju in 1926 in Puttaparthi, then a remote village in South India. Swami was brilliant as a student, but what made Him unique was His extraordinary wisdom and compassion. At the age of fourteen, Swami declared that He would henceforth be known as Sai Baba and that His mission was to bring about the spiritual regeneration of humanity by inculcating love for God and service to all beings. For over seven decades, His life has been a stirring and moving saga of love and compassion.

His followers come from all religions of the world. Swami encourages each individual to continue to follow the religion of their choice and promotes the high ideals of truth, right conduct, peace, love, and nonviolence as being the five values that set us apart as human beings.

Some of Swami's sayings are:

If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character. If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home. When there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. When there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.

Help ever; Hurt never -

RESPECT all religions and faiths, for they are all different paths to the SAME GOAL. You do not need to change your faith to follow me. Follow the truths of your religion and be a better Buddhist, a better Christian, a better Muslim or whatever -

There is only one nation, the nation of humanity; There is only one religion, the religion of love; There is one language, language of the heart; There is only one God and He is Omnipresent!

Marcelo Berenstein in his book "SAI BABA FOR BEGINNERS" writes about Swami as:
His life expresses the essence of all religions. His message updates the word of the other Avatars. His work is a practical manifestation of God's action.

In short, Sri Sathya Sai Baba is: God as man, so that man may be God again!
