Prashanthi Nilayam - About a mile away from Swami's birthplace
in Puttaparthi, a temple with residential quarters was constructed in 1950 and named 'Prashanthi
Nilayam' (Abode of Supreme Peace) by Swami. This is where Swami spends most of the year. This is the destination for thousands of spiritual aspirants of varied cultures, faiths, races, languages and socio-economic strata from all over the world to experience His divine love.
The ashram can accommodate and feed
the many thousands of devotees who come here. Under Swami's care and
guidance today Puttaparthi has a high quality school and college, an
accredited university, a spiritual museum, a music and dance school, a
well-equipped modern hospital, a jet airport, an international sports stadium to name a few.
Brindavan is another significant venue in the life and mission of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Established in 1964, Brindavan, located near Whitefield on the outskirts of Bangalore, enjoys
the proximity of the Divine for about three months every year. Situated on about fifty acres
of land on the outskirts of KaduGodi village and next to Whitefield railway station,
the focal point of the ashram is Trayee Brindavan which serves as Bhagawan's residence
and the Sai Ramesh Darshan Hall where Bhagawan gives darshan.
This ashram also houses the Brindavan Campus of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. This campus
offers undergraduate courses in the sciences and in commerce subjects.
The other
landmarks in and around Brindavan are the Sai Krishan Kalyanamandapam; a residential complex
named as Sri Sathya Sai Gokulam; the Sri Sathya Sai Hospital and the Sri Sathya Sai Vriddhashram.
The multi-superspeciality hospital, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences provides
free medical services that include diagnostic, pre-operative, surgical, and post-operative services, at no cost to the patient or their family.
Bhagawan Baba spends a few days during the summer months of April and May in the picturesque hill station of Kodaikanal. His beautiful residence in Kodaikanal is called ‘Sai Shruti’. Just as in Prasanthi Nilayam and Brindavan, the daily routine in Kodaikanal consists of Bhagawan’s darshan, His divine discourses and Bhajans.
Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust was founded by Bhagawan Baba, as a public charitable trust in 1972. The Trust is in charge of Sathya Sai ashrams and decisions for all philantrophic projects undertaken in India. The trust has undertaken a number of welfare activities, under Bhagawan’s guidance and supervision by trustees - in the areas of education, relief to the poor, medical relief, drinking water supply, and preservation & propagation of the rich cultural heritage of india through construction of museums, convention centers, community halls etc.
